Meet The Architect Kirt Carruth
As an architect, Kurt finds inspiration in the ingenious designs the natural world and our built environments and objects. Kurt has over 19 years of experience in architectural design, landscape design, project management, 3D modeling and full permit set drawing production. He manages many projects through the complete building, permit, and zoning approval processes. He is known for his clear, concise and accurate project documentation. Kurt excels in developing lighting plans and systems to dramatic effect, and enjoys the artistic process.
When asked what architecture means to him, Kurt describes:
“Having or designing a piece of architecture is a way of stepping out of – or into – who or where we are in our lives. How does that space make you feel? It is not the size, finish, or cost, but rather how a person experiences the space that is important in defining what architecture truly is. It is a feeling that is hard to describe, but when you achieve it, you know.”
Kurt collaborates with Lanthia Hogg Designs on projects, including the Crystal Award winning remodel “Riverside Project” in Basalt, Colorado. This particularly challenging project was to turn a 1980’s floor plan into an open, inviting space while maintaining the footprint. Through Kurt’s clever design, the house was re-arranged to keep the footprint while creating flow and an open floor plan. By removing unnecessary partitions and adding walls of windows, the home now reflects the owner’s modern aesthetic and takes advantage of the stunning river views.
