Hello, friends!
The 2017 ASID Crystal Awards were held on Thursday night. The event is like the Academy Awards for the interior design industry, and honors the top interior designers in Colorado. We had our own red carpet moments, reuniting and visiting with fellow designers and other industry leaders. It was great to run into friends new and old, such as Daniel Stern from Aurum Home Tech and Theresa Legnaro from the Charles Isen Showroom.

2017 ASID Crystal Awards Takes Us to Havana
Glamorous, sophisticated, exotic — the evening’s theme was Havana Nights. The Seawell Ballroom received a sexy restyling, with dramatic lighting and staging that emphasized the impressive views of downtown Denver. The Cuban music was lively, and the music and lighting together created a strong sense of drama. The tables were brilliantly lit and the floral arrangements were outstanding, with birds of paradise and other tropical flowers that evoked the sultry and exotic overtones of Havana. A drummer set the lively rhythm for emcee Chris Parente (from Denver Fox 31’s popular Early to Rise show). Chris was excellent — engaging with the audience and telling jokes, he kept us all on our toes while announcing the entries and winners. We hope to have him return as next year’s emcee.

The competition was fierce. I am honored to have been considered for three awards. It is inspiring how the nominees and winners are bringing their inventive work and big ideas to life — together, we are setting the bar for interior design in the West.
